La Palma

It is strange to me that Kaiser offices in different counties and sometimes different cities have separate protocols and procedures. Since I made the appointment at La Palma on such short notice, Paul was not going to make it because of work/dentist stuff he had going on.

So, I headed over to the office to meet Dr. Y. To my surprise once I had my weight/blood pressure check Paul was waiting for me in the exam room. Yay! We were able to talk with Dr. Y and have a full exam with ultrasound, we got to see the little moving around and 'waiving'. Dr. Y was super helpful, took time to answer all our questions, didn't push us to do any additional testing or screenings that we did not feel were necessary. Only bummer was we didn't get a picture to take home.

We were 13 weeks 2 days at this appointment and measuring right on track. The little's heartbeat sounded strong and Dr. Y was pleased with everything. As I am overweight he ordered a glucose test along with a full panel of blood tests. I was asked to get the blood work and glucose test completed within a week and we set up my next appointment for 3 weeks later.

After our unpleasant 1st visit with Kaiser and being told that it would be more than a month before I would actually be seen by a NP I was not impressed. I was talking to a friend at work about how frustrated I was and she told me that she did not have to go through any of that at her first Kaiser appointment in La Palma, she said she really liked the doctor she was seeing and saw a doctor at her first visit. I was sold! I pulled up the number for La Palma and explained my situation. The woman who answered the phone was most helpful and told me in fact that I had great timing as an appointment had recently opened up for the NEXT day! I was totally stoked.
